The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting construction operations by overseeing critical accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining efficient close processes, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This position partners closely with operations and leadership to support project accounting, cost controls, audits, and forecasting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Accounting Operations
- Oversee weekly accounting activities, including payables review.
- Manage construction draws, and the related workflow.
- Maintain cost codes, job cost reporting, and GL accuracy within QuickBooks.
Month-Year End Close
- Prepare and review month‑end and year‑end close entries, including accruals and adjustments.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
- Analyze financial results and provide meaningful explanations to management.
Audit
- Prepare schedules and reconciliations for annual audits.
- Serve as primary contact with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Reconciliations
- Prepare reconciliation of GL accounts.
- Record journal entries and follow up on the clearing of reconciling items.
Policies and Procedures
- Document accounting policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls.
- Recommend and help implement system and workflow improvements.
Forecast
- Assist in the preparation of weekly forecast.
Other Assignments and Special Projects
- Support special projects and ad‑hoc financial analysis as assigned.
- Provide guidance and informal supervision to staff accountants as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be detailed oriented and organized.
- 2+ years of internal or external hands-on audit experience is helpful
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis
- Energetic with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task, adapt and apply learned knowledge to different situations.
- Must have a high level of communication skills both written and oral.
- Must have proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Candidates with a “Go All In” attitude willing to learn and go the extra mile will be considered in place of other competencies.
- Experience supervising staff accountants is helpful.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 3-5 years of related senior level accounting experience.
- Proficient with Excel including the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP
- Experience with QuickBooks for Real Estate a plus.
- Experience in Real Estate or homebuilding is desired but not required.
APPROXIMATE SCHEDULE AND HOURS:
Weekdays, weekends, and Holidays, schedule flexible as business dictates.
