The college offers a two-year associate’s degree in applied science with a major in Nursing. The College of Nursing team is hiring an Assistant Dean for Students.
The Assistant Dean for Students is an administrative position responsible for promoting student development and academic success by developing and implementing non-academic programs, policies and services that support the students and the mission, vision, and values of the Pomeroy College of Nursing. They support student retention, conduct, and engagement while serving as a vital link between nursing students, faculty and college administration.
With a strong dedication to creating a campus environment that is safe, inclusive, and nurturing, the Assistant Dean for Students plays a crucial role in shaping a vibrant student experience. Additionally, this position holds key responsibilities as the College’s 504 Compliance Coordinator and Title IX Coordinator, ensuring adherence to federal regulations and promoting equity and respect across the campus community.
Pay Range: $76,000 - $84,000 / year
Schedule: Monday through Friday - Day/Evenings
Assistant Dean Position Responsibilities:
- Serves as 504/ ADA Compliance Coordinator for the College and develops academic adjustment plans for students with disabilities. Including supervising the college's alternate testing area.
- Functions as the College Title IX Coordinator and is responsible for ongoing student and staff education related to Title IX and sexual misconduct.
- Participates in the establishment and implementation of academic resources and policies created to aid students' academic success, engagement and retention.
- Chairs the Student Engagement Committee and acts as an academic advisor.
- Cultivates a diverse and inclusive campus as well as a community of belonging.
- Promotes student collaboration and involvement in professional student organizations.
- Develops, implements and supervises various student activities and campus-wide programs, including wellness programming.
- Coordinates and evaluates all internal and external student support services.
- Meets and guides students on a variety of issues both personal and academic in nature.
- Assists students with navigation and interpretation of all College policies and procedures.
- Stays current on student development and student support trends in higher education.
- Monitors the assigned annual student engagement budget.
- Assists with the planning and execution of all College ceremonies and events including, Commencement, New Student Welcome, Open House and Accepted Student Reception.
- Works with the Dean to adjudicate non-academic behavioral matters.
- Develops and administers the student satisfaction and campus climate surveys.
- Appropriately refers students to campus support services and community agencies.
- Provides crisis/emergency intervention, response and support when necessary.
- Facilitates the involvement of students in college governance.
- Coordinates and maintains an accurate student handbook.
- Maintains an ordered, accurate and secure system of student records (i.e. grievances & appeals, academic adjustments, Title IX).
- Provides data as needed for institutional, state and federal reporting purposes.
- Assumes other duties as assigned by department leadership.
Assistant Dean Position Requirements:
MINIMUM EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE
- Required: Master’s Degree in adult or post-secondary education, counseling, student development, or related field.
- Required:
- Minimum of three years’ experience in the delivery of student services.
- Preferred:
- Experience with Title IX/Sexual Misconduct preferred.
- Experience with 504/ADA Compliance preferred.
