About the role:
The First Mile Coordinator & Receiving Lead is responsible for managing inbound transportation from vendors and overseeing warehouse receiving operations. This role ensures timely supplier pickups, accurate shipment tracking, and efficient intake of goods into inventory. The position plays a critical role in maintaining supply chain flow, inventory accuracy, and vendor performance in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
First Mile / Inbound Logistics
- Coordinate and schedule inbound pickups from vendors and suppliers
- Manage inbound freight with carriers, brokers, and 3PL partners
- Track shipments in transit and proactively resolve delays or issues
- Communicate with vendors, carriers, and internal teams on shipment status
- Ensure proper documentation (BOLs, packing lists, invoices) is complete and accurate
- Support cost control efforts by optimizing inbound freight and routing decisions
Receiving & Warehouse Operations
- Lead daily receiving activities including unloading, inspection, and verification of shipments
- Ensure all received goods are accurately entered into WMS/ERP systems
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between purchase orders, shipments, and received inventory
- Coordinate dock schedules and delivery appointments
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper processes and cycle counts
- Supervise and support receiving staff to meet productivity and safety standards
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with purchasing, inventory, and operations teams to align inbound flow with demand
- Support vendor performance tracking and issue resolution
- Maintain accurate records, reporting, and compliance documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve inbound logistics and receiving efficiency
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or warehouse operations
- Experience coordinating inbound freight or vendor shipments preferred
- Leadership or team lead experience in a warehouse environment is a plus
- Familiarity with WMS, TMS, or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills across vendors, drivers, and internal teams
- Forklift certification (preferred but not required)
