Position Summary
We are seeking staff to work with at-risk youth. We take pride in our structured program that focuses on changing a client's behaviors, thinking patterns, and values. Our program primarily focuses on implementing behavioral changes to assist with a successful reintegration into the home, family, and community.
A
Student Support Specialist provides behavioral and academic assistance for students within the school setting. The essential function of this position is to intervene with behavioral and academic support that is consistent with KidsPeace Model of Care and Safe Crisis Management. The position consist of circulating through classrooms to assist with assignments, provide crisis intervention to students, collect data, form therapeutic relationships and reinforce on task behavior. The Student Support Specialist will be able to implement crisis management techniques while supporting education needs of the student.
Job Duties / Essential Functions
Assist in classroom routines including daily expectations and education related support while ensuring a safe learning environment.
Assigned to float in residential houses before and after school hours within a daily shift.
Act as building floater in halls, bathrooms and playgrounds to ensure safe learning environment.
Fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.
Transport students to place of residence and report behavior to relevant person, as necessary.
Other tasks as assigned by the administrative team.
Provide crisis intervention to KidsPeace students, complete reporting and record keeping.
Attend to the behavioral and emotional needs of the student.
Shifts Available
Position located in Orefield, PA
Full Time 7AM-3PM, Monday through Friday (all year round)
Qualifications (Education, Training and Experiences)
1. Experience with social and emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred.
2. Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.
3. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
4. Valid driver's license required.
5. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in Mental Heath or related field preferred.
