ER TechnicianJob Summary
Provides basic and advanced patient care and related nonprofessional services in the Emergency Department of the hospital. Under general supervision also performs a variety of clerical, secretarial and related duties and responsibilities which support the provision of patient care in the hospital.
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Demonstrates accurate, knowledge and skill to carry out job duties. Follows departmental work policies and procedures. Displays speed and consistency of output, and time utilization of job duties. Accurately collects and documents patient data as assigned (Vital signs, height/weight, Input and Output). Reviews documentation for accuracy at end of shift. Notifies licensed staff of abnormal findings related to Vital Signs, Capillary Blood Glucose Measurement and changes in patient status.
- Understands that attendance affects team morale and confidence. Demonstrates reliability and punctuality in regard to attendance. Consistently is present and ready to begin work activities at start of shift, stays within established break periods, arrives on time for meetings and leaves work area promptly at the conclusion of the shift to reduce potential distractions. Schedules personal appointments or requests adjustment to schedule with least amount of disruption to service delivery. Provides prompt notice for unexpected absences.
- Delivers care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures; Implements care practices such as Infection control procedures, care planning, safety measures, etc.

Qualifications
Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Experience:
- Preferred
- One year of experience in Healthcare
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
- SAFE Approach Level III
- Must obtain within six (6) months of start date
