About the role
We're looking for a technically rigorous, strategically oriented Director of SEO & AEO to own organic search and answer engine optimization across our portfolio of brands. This role is responsible for driving measurable organic visibility, traffic, and conversion, while also building the frameworks needed to optimize for AI-powered search experiences and featured placements.
Reporting into the VP of Brand Marketing, you will set the SEO and AEO roadmap, lead execution across technical, on-page, and off-page disciplines, and partner closely with Content, Web, and Performance teams to ensure organic search is a high-performing growth channel. As AI-driven search continues to evolve, this role will be on the leading edge of how our brands show up in generative and answer-based experiences.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical SEO expertise with a forward-looking perspective on how search behavior is changing — and knows how to translate both into business impact.
What you'll do
- Own SEO and AEO strategy and execution across all brands, with full accountability for organic search performance
- Lead technical SEO initiatives including site architecture, crawlability, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and indexation
- Develop and execute on-page optimization strategies including keyword targeting, content structure, and internal linking
- Build and manage off-page programs including link acquisition, digital PR integration, and authority development
- Develop AEO frameworks to optimize brand presence in AI-generated answers, featured snippets, and voice search results
- Partner with Content teams to build SEO-informed editorial calendars and ensure content is structured for both traditional and AI-driven discovery
- Work closely with Web teams to implement technical recommendations at scale
- Define KPIs, build reporting infrastructure, and communicate organic performance clearly to senior stakeholders
- Monitor algorithm updates and AI search developments; proactively adapt strategy in response
- Evaluate and manage SEO tools, platforms, and agency partners as needed
Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of experience in SEO, with demonstrated success driving organic growth at scale
- Deep expertise in technical SEO, comfortable in a crawl report, a site audit, and a conversation with developers
- Working knowledge of AEO principles and hands-on experience optimizing for AI-generated and featured search placements
- Experience managing SEO across multiple domains or brand properties simultaneously
- Proficiency with SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, and similar
- Strong analytical skills; able to move from data to insight to recommendation without hand-holding
- Experience collaborating with content, dev, and paid search teams to integrate SEO across disciplines
- Agency or multi-brand in-house experience strongly preferred
