Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:15 AM – 5:00 PM (Overtime as needed)
Reports To: Department Supervisor
Starting Wage: $18/hr
About the Role
We are seeking a dependable, motivated Field Technician to support our laboratory through accurate, high quality sampling and courier services. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, can adapt to a dynamic schedule, and is comfortable spending long periods on the road. Does that sound like you? Key Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver samples from customer sites across the state; a significant portion of the shift involves driving.
- Collect samples from both residential and commercial customers while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Gather all necessary documentation so that sample IDs, requested analyses, and preservation details are clear to laboratory personnel.
- Ensure all samples return to the laboratory on time and properly cooled to meet required holding times.
- Perform field sampling in accordance with Trace's standard operating procedures and EPA guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and legible documentation with strong spelling and handwriting.
- Understand client needs, and communicate clearly to schedule sampling and courier activities.
- Assist with maintenance, scheduling repairs, and upkeep of company vehicles used for sampling and courier routes.
- Support maintenance, repairs, and calibration of sampling equipment.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support daily operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (background check required).
- High school diploma or equivalent is recommended.
- Ability to safely drive 1,000+ miles per week in varying weather conditions.
- Availability to work 40+ hours per week, including occasional weekends or holidays.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Flexibility to adjust start times, end times, and daily routes.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to stay organized throughout a changing workday.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and composed in stressful or fast-paced situations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly as part of daily tasks.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening.
- Trace enforces a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol, including marijuana.
Work Schedule
- 40 hours per week, with overtime as needed to ensure timely sample delivery.
- Monday–Friday, 1st shift: 7:15 AM – 5:00 PM
- 30 minute daily lunch break.
Compensation details: 18-18 Hourly Wage
