JOB TITLE: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and support under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The CNA plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care while supporting the overall efficiency of the healthcare team.

This role focuses on assisting patients with daily care needs, observing and reporting patient conditions, and helping create a supportive healing environment. The CNA demonstrates our organizational values by building trust with patients and colleagues, striving for excellence in patient care, embracing innovative approaches to care delivery, and strengthening relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

Provide direct patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and repositioning while maintaining patient safety.

Measure and record vital signs, intake and output, and other basic clinical observations.

Observe patient conditions and report changes promptly to the supervising nurse.

Support patient comfort and emotional well-being through compassionate care and respectful communication.

Maintain accurate patient charts, electronic health records, and unit documentation.

Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with healthcare regulations.

Maintain a clean and safe patient environment.

Assist with transporting patients within the facility when needed.

Qualifications:

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Licensure: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

Specialty Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Experience: Health Unit Coordinator or medical administrative experience

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion in patient care.

Strong attention to detail and ability to observe changes in patient condition.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Basic computer and documentation skills.

Work Environment:

This role is performed in a hospital or clinical unit environment and may require:

Exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and healthcare-related hazards.

Compliance with infection prevention and safety protocols.

Working day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on operational needs.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often for the majority of a shift.

Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching during patient care activities.

Ability to assist with lifting, transferring, and repositioning patients, including lifting up to 35–50 pounds independently and heavier loads with assistance or lifting devices.

Frequent pushing and pulling of medical equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, and supply carts.

Manual dexterity required for handling patient care equipment and documentation tasks.

Ability to visually monitor patients and read medical documentation.

Ability to hear and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Ability to respond quickly to patient needs and emergencies.
