Location: Hybrid - Iowa City, Iowa

About the role
The Controller is a hands-on, individual contributor who keeps the company’s financial operations running smoothly day to day. This role manages the full accounting cycle—from general ledger and month-end close to financial reporting and maintaining strong internal controls—with the potential for direct reports in the future. Working closely with leadership, the Controller provides clear, timely insights that help guide decisions and keep things on track. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, staying organized, and finding ways to make processes more efficient in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute full-cycle accounting operations, including the management of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and complex technical accounting.
- Prepare and post all journal entries,maintain the chart of accounts, and perform regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Own the entire month-end close process from start to finish, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) are delivered shortly after month-end.
- Be the primary point of contact for external auditors, leading the preparation of year-end audit workpapers and responding to complex inquiries.
- Coordinate the delivery of information for all tax filings (Federal, State, and Local) to ensure timely filing.
- Develop and maintain documented accounting policies and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure GAAP compliance.
- Comply with and hold with utmost regard all compliance requirements to protect patient privacy and data confidentiality
- Provide actionable financial insights to leadership by identifying trends or variances within the monthly reporting package.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA or CMA strongly preferred, demonstrating a mastery of technical accounting and GAAP standards.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible full-cycle accounting experience.
- Advanced Excel and ERP system expertise, Netsuite preferred.
- Ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
Remote work requirements
Internet capability must be a high-speed internet connection of 40 Mbps speeds or greater.
Physical requirements
Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to: moving or handling (lifting, pushing, pulling and reaching overhead) office equipment and supplies weighing 1 to 25 lbs. unassisted. Frequently required to sit for extended periods during the workday. Manual dexterity and visual acuity required. Must be able to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
Working conditions
Work will generally be performed indoors in an office environment. Must maintain a professional appearance and manner.
