Purpose:
The Volunteer Coordinator will represent Hunkapi Programs in a positive manner to all stakeholders. Overseeing volunteer activities in a safe, positive, and productive manner is crucial.
Examples of Duties:
- Liaison to community.
- Ensure applications submitted to the program are complete.
- Communicates with applicants regarding orientation opportunities.
- Holds orientations in accordance with company practices.
- Communicates with applicants on next steps to becoming a volunteer at Hunkapi.
- Creates a schedule for volunteers.
- Ensures adequate volunteer coverage for each shift
- Communicates safety standards and ensures safety practices are being always implemented.
- Maintains open lines of communication with all stakeholders.
- Creates opportunities for volunteers to increase their knowledge base.
- Works to ensure retention of volunteers by creating meaningful, enriching volunteer work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skill in working effectively and positively with all types of people.
- Skill in critical thinking and problem solving. Attention to detail.
- Skill in following both verbal and written instruction.
- Computer skills necessary.
- Confidential information handled appropriately in keeping with company standards and policies. Understanding of HIPPA policies and protocols.
- Successful candidate will understand the necessity of developing and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers and Hunkapi staff.
- Horsemanship at intermediate level, expert preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
One year experience working in a non-profit organization. Computer skills in Office products are necessary, as is the ability to learn new computer programs, as necessary.Must be able to stand and walk for up to 6 hours at a time, work in inclement weather, and lift 25-50 lbs.
