What You’ll Do:
- Observe patient responses, collect data as appropriate, and document information in the medical record and report to Registered Nurse
- Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, assume responsibility for your role in emergency situations
- Assist with cleaning and room turnover
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and toileting
- Perform, document, and report vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height/weight, peak flow and oxygen saturation, orthostatic vital signs, and visual acuity
- Perform procedures, including 12-lead electrocardiograms and one-touch glucose testing, as well as obtain laboratory specimens (not requiring invasive procedure), assist with dressings, splinting, casting, and post mortem care
- Once certified, performs Chain of Custody (COC) urine collections and Blood Alcohol Testing (BAT) as indicated when Occupational Health are unavailable
- Perform duties associated with the role of Health Unit Coordinator, such as: maintaining medical records, filing diagnostic tests, processing physician orders, notifying other departments for specific services/items needed, and assuring that physicians, visitors, and family members are received and greeted, providing accurate responses in a friendly and courteous manner
What We’re Looking For:
Required:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Experience in a health care setting
- Must be a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the State of New Hampshire
- Have current BLS certification (adult, child, and infant)
- Certification in COC and BAT required within 1 year of hire
- Ability to respond appropriately to changing patient and staffing conditions. Demonstrated ability to seek guidance and/or support from appropriate resources. Knowledge of emergency medical treatment. Computer literacy. Ability to write clearly and concisely. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to give and receive feedback in a constructive manner
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a hospital setting serving the same age/type of patient population.
