Job Description: LDLS Test Engineer InternLocation: This position is onsite and is based in Wilmington, MAPosition Summary:
The Test Engineer Intern will support engineering teams in the planning, execution, and documentation of product and system testing. This role provides hands-on exposure to real world engineering validation, data analysis, and problem-solving activities. The intern will work closely with test, product, manufacturing, and design engineers to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Executing product testing and assisting with updates to documentation, including test plans, procedures, and reports.Support test development, test fixture setup, and data analysis as needed.Apply technical knowledge to set up, run, and monitor tests, collect data, and help identify trends, anomalies, or performance gaps in real world testing scenarios.Collaborate with manufacturing, product, and engineering teams to support test execution, investigate product failures, and provide feedback on product performanceAssist in optimizing and automating test methodologies, including improving test repeatability, reducing test time, enhancing data collection, and supporting the development of scripts, tools, or fixtures where applicable.Minimum Requirements: Junior or Senior working towards a bachelor’s degree in Physics, Systems Engineering, or related field.Experience testing optics, electrical, and photonicsExperience with coding languagesAbility to use basic hand tools.Comfortable working cross-functionally in a dynamic work environment.Ability to explore different solutions to problems.Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work independently.Self-motivated with the ability to drive projects according to plan.Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on lab or internship experience in testing, validation, or engineering environments.Exposure to test automation tools, scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB), or data analysis software.Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, optical measurement tools, etc.).Experience working with photonics, semiconductors, or hardware-based products.Understanding of basic statistical analysis and data interpretation.Experience collaborating on cross-functional engineering projects.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
The compensation hourly rate for this role is $20/hr. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
