A Master’s degree in nursing is required. Licensed by Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Certification by national certifying body with prescriptive privileges. Advanced training as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner required.

JOB SUMMARY
-
Provide care for well term newborns as well as premature and sick newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), mother/baby unit, emergency room, delivery room, or specialty clinic. The NNP will work under the direction of the neonatologist and/or pediatrician while assuming responsibility for their patients, exercising judgment when necessary to assess, diagnose, and initiate medical procedures.
They will perform a number of duties, including:

Monitoring specialized equipment, including incubators and ventilators.

Providing education and support to patients’ families regarding neonatal, intensive and, postpartum care.

Dispensing medications under collaborative agreement with a physician.

Performing diagnostic tests and other procedures, such as intubation and blood draws.

Ensuring proper feeding and basic care.

Attending high risk deliveries to assist with admission and stabilization of newborns.
