Position Overview
The Director of Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing all logistics and supply chain operations, including transportation, warehousing, distribution, and fulfillment. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and scalable operations aligned with company growth and customer satisfaction goals.
This is a senior leadership position that oversees daily execution while driving long-term operational strategy
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership
- Oversee end-to-end logistics operations (transportation, warehousing, distribution)
- Ensure on-time delivery, service quality, and operational efficiency
- Lead daily operations across multiple locations or regions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain
2. Strategic Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement logistics and operational strategies aligned with business goals
- Establish KPIs (on-time delivery, cost per shipment, inventory turns, etc.)
- Forecast demand and scale operations accordingly
- Identify automation and technology opportunities
3. Transportation & Fleet Management
- Oversee carrier selection, routing, and freight optimization
- Manage fleet operations, maintenance, and compliance
- Ensure adherence to DOT and safety regulations
- Optimize last-mile delivery performance
4. Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Manage warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, and shipping
- Ensure accurate inventory control and cycle counts
- Improve warehouse layout, throughput, and labor productivity
- Implement WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) best practices
5. Financial & Budget Management
- Own P&L for logistics operations
- Develop and manage operating budgets
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve margins
- Analyze operational data to drive financial performance
6. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop operations managers, supervisors, and staff
- Build a high-performance, accountability-driven culture
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance management
- Align team goals with company objectives
7. Vendor & Partner Management
- Build and manage relationships with:
- Carriers and freight brokers
- 3PL providers
- Suppliers and vendors
- Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements
- Monitor vendor performance and accountability
8. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA, etc.)
- Maintain safety standards across warehouses and transportation
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency planning
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
- MBA preferred
Experience
- 8–12+ years in logistics, supply chain, or operations leadership
- Experience managing multi-site operations or large-scale logistics networks
- Proven track record of improving operational efficiency and cost control
Compensation details: 105000-120000 Hourly Wage
