Position Overview
The Food & Beverage Server provides attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous service to guests in the hotel's dining outlets, lounges, and other service areas. This role is responsible for taking orders, serving food and beverages, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining service standards. The Food Server plays a key role in enhancing the guest dining experience within a full-service hotel environment.
What You'll Do
Guest Service & Hospitality
- Greet guests promptly and warmly, providing a welcoming and professional dining experience.
- Present menus, answer questions, and make thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them efficiently into the POS system.
- Deliver food and beverages according to hotel service standards, ensuring accuracy and presentation.
Table Service & Dining Room Support
- Monitor tables throughout service to anticipate guest needs, refill beverages, and clear used items.
- Coordinate with food runners and expeditors to ensure timely delivery of dishes and proper pacing.
- Assist in resetting tables quickly and maintaining a clean, organized dining room.
- Support service in additional dining outlets when needed, including lounges and outdoor seating areas.
Upselling & Menu Knowledge
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all menus, specials, beverages, wine lists, and promotions.
- Utilize suggestive selling techniques to enhance guest satisfaction and increase revenue.
- Communicate allergen information and dietary accommodations accurately.
Cash Handling & POS Responsibilities
- Prepare and present guest checks promptly and accurately.
- Process payments through the POS system following standard procedures.
- Reconcile assigned cash banks when applicable and follow all cash handling policies.
Safety, Sanitation & Cleanliness
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Keep service areas, stations, and dining areas clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or spills immediately to management.
- Adhere to proper alcohol service guidelines including TABC compliance.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with bartenders, hosts, food runners, bussers, and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service flow.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings and communicate key updates, specials, and guest needs.
- Assist coworkers when needed to maintain smooth operations during peak periods.
- Support banquet and event service when required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with opening and closing side work including stocking, cleaning, and organizing supplies.
- Maintain professional appearance and follow all grooming and uniform standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Food & Beverage operations.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role.
What You'll Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Previous Food & Beverage or customer service experience preferred.
- Experience in a full-service restaurant, hotel dining room, or fast-paced service environment preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems and wine/spirits knowledge preferred.
- Hospitality-related coursework or training preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities

- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
