Position Summary
The Phlebotomist plays a vital role in patient care by performing blood collection procedures with skill, accuracy, and compassion. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a positive experience for patients—many of whom may feel anxious or unwell. This role requires both technical proficiency and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures using safe, proper techniques
- Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis in accordance with established protocols
- Ensure a positive patient experience by verifying patient identity, explaining procedures clearly, and providing reassurance and comfort
- Maintain clean, sanitary work areas and follow all infection control, safety, and privacy standards
- Accurately enter patient information and laboratory orders into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system

Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification: Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
- Experience: Prior experience in a clinical or laboratory setting strongly preferred
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Comfort working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Proficiency in—or willingness to learn—electronic medical record systems
