Cloud Engineer (Mid)
Who Were Looking For (Position Overview):
We are seeking a Mid-Level Cloud Engineer to support the migration and modernization of mission-critical applications within AWS GovCloud (US). This role will focus on executing a secure lift-and-shift migration of a complex SQL Server-based application with numerous interconnected system dependencies.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, strong troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of secure cloud environments support federal/government workloads. This individual will work in an Agile team environment and contribute to documentation, implementation, and operational sustainment efforts
What Your Day-To-Day Looks Like (Position Responsibilities):
- Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure within AWS GovCloud (US) environments
- Execute lift-and-shit migration of on-premises workloads, including SQL Server databases, application servers, dependent services and integrations
- Analyze and map application dependencies to ensure seamless migration and minimal downtime
- Implement cloud networking components (VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, NACLs)
- Configure and manage EC2, EBS, load balancers, IAM policies, and backup solutions
- Support high availability, backup, disaster recovery, and failover configuration
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues
- Apply security best practices aligned with federal compliance requirements
- Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation (architecture diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, migration plans)
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives)
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Requirements):
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance
- 3-5 years of experience in cloud engineering or related infrastructure roles
- Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud
- Experience migrating on-premises workloads to cloud environments (lift-and-shift preferred)
- Experience in managing Windows Server environments
- Familiarity with core AWS fundamentals such as: VPC design and networking fundamentals, IAM and least-privilege access controls, backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Ideally, You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):
- AWS certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional)
- Experience supporting government cloud environments
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with configuration management tools
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST)
