Find your future with us.Role Overview: Intramotev is seeking a Field Operations Lead to serve as the primary technical point of contact and first line of support for our growing fleet of autonomous, battery-electric railcars. This is a high-impact, hands-on role focused on ensuring the long-term reliability and performance of vehicles already in service. You will handle field repairs, system upgrades, and technical troubleshooting while maintaining strong relationships with our customer base. This position is based out of St. Louis, MO, and is a full-time, in-office position when not traveling. This role requires significant domestic travel (up to 75%) to customer sites and rail yards.Key Responsibilities:Technical Support: Serve as the primary field technician for existing customers, performing on-site diagnostic, repair, and maintenance activities on autonomous rail vehicles.Mechanical & Electrical Repair: Execute hands-on fixes for complex mechanical systems and electrical circuits, including high-voltage battery systems and onboard controllers.Field Upgrades: Lead the implementation of hardware and software upgrades across the existing fleet to ensure customers have the latest technology and safety enhancements.Customer Interaction: Act as the face of Intramotev for operational customers, translating technical issues into clear updates and ensuring high levels of service satisfaction.Collaboration: Work as a peer to the Deployment Lead to ensure a smooth handoff from initial commissioning to long-term operational support.Documentation: Create and update field service reports, maintenance logs, and technical instructions to improve future repair efficiency and product reliability.Inventory Management: Manage field service kits and spare parts inventory to ensure rapid response times for customer issues.Team Dynamics:Work within a lean, fast-paced team where individual initiative is critical.Partner closely with the Engineering and Deployment teams to provide feedback on vehicle performance in real-world environments.Travel up to 75% of the time to diverse customer locations, often working in outdoor rail yard environments.Why Join Us?Direct Impact: You are the person ensuring our breakthrough technology works flawlessly in the field every day.Innovative Environment: Work at the intersection of traditional heavy rail and cutting-edge autonomous electric vehicle technology.Growth: Play a foundational role in building out our long-term customer support and field operations strategy.About You: Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):8+ years of hands-on experience in locomotive or railcar maintenance and repair.Proven expertise in troubleshooting both mechanical systems and electrical circuits.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wire run lists, and mechanical drawings.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to represent the company professionally in customer-facing environments.Willingness to travel up to 75% domestically and work in varied field conditions.Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor associated with railcar repair.U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).Fluent in both written and verbal English.Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:Experience with high-voltage battery systems or electric vehicle (EV) powertrains.Familiarity with autonomous systems or remote-controlled locomotive technology.Experience with rail industry safety standards and FRA regulations.Previous experience in a field service or "road mechanic" role within the rail industry.Typical Education and Experience: Experience typically acquired through 8 or more years of related work experience in rail operations or maintenance.Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.Equal Opportunity Employer: Intramotev is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
