Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a General Manager for the 111-room Staybridge Suites Downtown in Des Moines, IA.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on operator who is ready to take full ownership of a select-service property, build a strong team culture, and drive top-line performance in a growing downtown market.
Your expertise shapes us:
The General Manager is the strategic business leader of the property, responsible for overall hotel performance, team development, and guest satisfaction. This role offers the opportunity to lead the business with autonomy while being supported by an experienced and engaged management company.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving financial performance, revenue growth, and market share
- Leading, developing, and holding the leadership team accountable for results
- Creating a strong, service-driven culture that delivers exceptional guest experiences
- Executing brand initiatives and operational strategies to exceed performance goals
- Building strong relationships with ownership through proactive communication and results delivery
- Identifying and pursuing new sales opportunities to grow top-line revenue
- Engaging with the local community to strengthen the hotel’s presence and partnerships
You Are:
- An experienced hotel leader in a select-service or similar environment (minimum of 2 years with a major brand, preferred)
- Financially savvy, with experience managing P&L, budgets, forecasting, and cost controls
- A people-focused leader who develops talent and builds high-performing teams
- Results-driven, with a track record of improving guest satisfaction and hotel performance
- Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable wearing multiple hats
- Experienced with major hotel brands (IHG, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt) preferred, not required
- Experience with the following systems is helpful: Profit Sword, ADP Payroll, NetSuite, Hotel Effectiveness, Opera, and Hotel Key.
- Strong communicator with the ability to lead professionally and with integrity
