Intern – Peak Performance Physical Therapy
Location: Lansing Area - West Lansing, Mason, Okemos & DeWitt
Reports To: Clinic Manager / Lead Physical Therapist
Status: Internship

Position Overview
As an Intern at Peak Performance Physical Therapy, you will play an essential role in supporting clinic operations and ensuring an exceptional experience for our patients. Your contribution will help maintain a timely, consistent, and professional flow within the clinic—allowing our therapists and staff to deliver the highest level of care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Flow & Time Management
- Ensure all treatment rooms are cleaned and prepared promptly at the top and bottom of each hour.
- Communicate effectively with technicians, therapists, and front desk staff to ensure all patients are brought back within the first 5–10 minutes of their scheduled appointment.
Patient Experience & Customer Service
- Check on patients who are waiting without an assigned exercise; ensure they are comfortable and receiving timely care.
- Introduce yourself professionally and provide assistance as needed, including offering towels and water.
- Following completion of training and competency exams, assist patients with exercise instruction and proper form.
- Develop professional relationships with patients through consistent interaction and attentive service.
Waiting Room Support
- Monitor the waiting room regularly to ensure all patients have been assisted promptly.
- Greet waiting patients courteously, verify their provider assignment, and coordinate with the front desk or clinical staff to begin their treatment as soon as possible.
Modalities
- Learn and understand the purpose and safe operation of clinic equipment, including ultrasound and electrical stimulation machines.
- Assist in monitoring patients receiving these treatments as part of your training experience.
Facility Readiness
- Maintain a clean and organized treatment environment by regularly checking and cleaning empty rooms and treatment tables.
- Manage clinic laundry throughout the day—transferring, drying, and distributing clean linens as needed.
Technician & Team Assistance
- Provide support to busy technicians and therapists by assisting with patients or clinic tasks when appropriate.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and teamwork necessary to maintain a smooth clinic flow.
General Clinic Support
- Stay attentive to all areas of the clinic, ensuring that every department operates efficiently and in alignment with Peak Performance’s mission to deliver exceptional patient care.
- Take initiative during slower periods to complete assigned facility management tasks such as:
- Cleaning the waiting area and aerobic equipment
- Organizing electrical stimulation pads
- Reviewing and completing items from the facility management checklist
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Professional, dependable, and proactive work ethic.
