About the Role
We are seeking a Diamond Turning Technician I for 2nd Shift to join our precision machining team. Under general supervision, you will operate and maintain diamond turning machines, perform part inspections, and ensure compliance with strict optical and mechanical specifications. This role is critical to supporting production ramps for a key missile program and expanding capacity on existing and new equipment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate precision diamond turning machines and perform routine cleaning and maintenance
- Set up and adjust machines; modify programming as needed to meet part specifications
- Read blueprints and work instructions to determine part requirements
- Clean parts using acetone and other approved chemicals
- Inspect optical surfaces for quality and measure surface roughness, figure, radius, and other requirements
- Perform accurate data entry in computer systems
- Learn and support metrology processes
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience
- Basic CNC programming knowledge helpful
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and drawings
Skills
- Mathematical: Ability to calculate proportions, angles, and apply basic algebra and geometry
- Language: Ability to read and write simple instructions and communicate effectively in small groups
- Reasoning: Ability to follow detailed instructions and solve problems involving standard situations
Working Conditions
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, and handle delicate parts with care
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally (with or without assistance)
- Vision requirements include close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to inspect parts using precision tools
- Must be able to wear safety gear for extended periods
For California, the hourly pay range for this role is $16.07-$27.28
