Position Title: Throughput Nursing Supervisor
Location: 1900 N SUNRISE DR, USA, Saint Peter, MN, 56082
Base Pay: 39.47 - 59.18 / Hour
Description: Description Key Responsibilities- Patient Flow & Throughput Management
- Coordinate daily patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to optimize bed utilization.
- Facilitate timely discharges by pro-actively identifying and resolving barriers.
- Collaborate with the House Manager, Charge Nurses, and Unit Leaders to ensure appropriate bed placement.
- Monitor length of stay and escalate delays impacting patient throughput.
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary discharge planning and bed huddles.
- Collaboration with Case Management & Utilization Review
- Work closely with Case Management to support discharge planning and transition of care needs.
- Partner with Utilization Review to ensure appropriate level of care determinations and payer compliance.
- Assist with resolving authorization delays or documentation barriers that affect discharge timelines.
- Monitor avoidable days and support process improvement initiatives to reduce them.
Patient Rounding- Conduct daily patient rounding focused on discharge readiness, barriers to care, and patient satisfaction.
- Identify and escalate patient concerns related to discharge or care coordination.
- Support patient and family education regarding discharge expectations and timelines.
Swing Bed Program Oversight- Provide operational oversight of the Swing Bed Program.
- Ensure appropriate patient selection and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate admissions to swing bed services and monitor length of stay.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality care and smooth transitions.
Discharge Lounge Oversight- Oversee the daily operations of the Discharge Lounge.
- Ensure patients awaiting transportation or medications are safely monitored.
- Coordinate staffing and workflow for efficient patient turnover.
- Monitor performance metrics related to discharge lounge utilization and effectiveness.
Quality & Performance Improvement- Track throughput metrics including discharge times, length of stay, readmissions, and bed turnaround times.
- Identify trends and implement improvement strategies.
- Participate in committees focused on patient flow, care coordination, and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.
Requirements: Education:- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
Licensure/Certification:- Current RN license in good standing.
- BLS required; additional certifications preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience.
- Previous leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in case management, utilization review, or patient flow strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCopy Link- Strong understanding of hospital operations and patient flow processes.
- Knowledge of CMS regulations related to swing bed and discharge planning.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to analyze data and drive performance improvement.
