Job Summary
The Senior Geologist will possess a strong technical background with experience in Agricultural Voluntary Investigation Cleanup (AgVIC). You will manage projects, prepare proposals and reports and other deliverables, and review documents prepared by others for accuracy, completeness, and quality following company standards. This position will assist with local and regional environmental marketing efforts; maintain existing and develop new client relationships; and train, mentor, and direct staff on projects. The Geologist 3 will serve as a local point of contact for Environmental services and provide support on regional and national projects and pursuits.

- Grow and expand existing environmental services with a focus on AgVIC and due diligence (Phase I and Phase II ESA).
- Prepare applications, plans, reports, proposals, and other deliverables.
- Manage projects/deliverables and staff to ensure quality and timeliness.
- Understand the local and regional market.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients.
- Develop proposals in response to RFPs and client requests.
- Participate in the development of local and regional marketing strategies.
- Support safety efforts to promote safety rules and guidelines.
- Evaluate problems and develop practical solutions that enable our clients to achieve and maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance (Environmental) Records & Reporting / Permits.
- Maintain highest level of confidentiality and professionalism while promoting a positive image of the company.
- Provide technical support and assist with implementation of management decisions regarding regulatory and compliance strategy of the organization.
- Maintain knowledge of changing state and federal environmental regulations, industry trends, and best practices; assess impact of changes.
- Develop strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, consultants, contractors, municipal officials, and government agency personnel. Main focus will be on connecting with new and old clients and growing in AET’s pursuit of AgVIC work.
- Assess internal product quality and production procedures, evaluate compliance with internal procedures, and operational risks and develop risk management strategies; assist with developing risk management strategies (i.e., product, compliance, operational).
- Conduct internal reviews and audits to ensure internal compliance procedures are being followed.
- Serve as a mentor and resource to team members by offering guidance, sharing expertise, and supporting task coordination and issue resolution to promote effective teamwork and project delivery.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide mentorship and day-to-day work guidance to field engineers, scientists, technicians, and junior staff. The role supports effective workflow through task coordination, adherence to established procedures, and timely, quality execution of work assignments.
Required Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in geological engineering, geology, or other environmental-related disciplines.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in a full-time environmental consulting role with experience in AgVIC and Phase 1 & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
- Demonstrated high level of technical writing ability.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong working knowledge of Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Guidance and best practices.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners.
Preferred Skills
- Professional Geologist (PG) certification (strongly preferred).
- Stormwater/SWPPP (Construction, Industrial and MS4).
- SPCC Planning.
- Oil and Gas (retail stores, bulk storage, pipeline).
- MnDOT corridor due diligence.
- Soil vapor sampling and mitigation.
- Environmental remediation technologies and system design.
- Working knowledge of Wisconsin DNR guidance.
Pay Transparency
Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $90,000 to $110,000 per year based on skill set and experience. Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position will occasionally be required to operate in a field environment.
