Position Summary
We are seeking staff to work with at-risk youth. We take pride in our structured program that focuses on changing a client's behaviors, thinking patterns, and values. Our program primarily focuses on implementing behavioral changes to assist with a successful reintegration into the home, family, and community.
The Summer Unit Aide assists in providing physical coverage, guidance and directions to emotionally and behaviorally challenged children in a residential unit setting during the summer months. A Summer Unit Aide learns to demonstrate a variety of counseling and parenting skills that support the formation of trusting, supportive relationships with the children. The position will participate in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans and unit programs that are designated to meet the special needs of the children.
Job Duties:

Assist in providing counseling for children around life-space issues.

Assist in evaluating each child’s behavior according to the departmental Performance Evaluation Program on a daily basis.

Assist in conducting, escorting and supervising children on community trips and activities.

Assist in the planning and implementation of individualized treatment plans.

Fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youth who may weight in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.

Participate in small, organized group meetings aimed at teaching children social and other life skills.

Assist in delivering common sense, practical consequences for behavioral problems according to unit/agency policies in a fair and consistent manner.

Assist in putting children to bed in a supportive manner.
Shifts Available
Position located in Orefield, PA
Full time, primarily 2nd (3P-11P) shift
Weekends are required (set schedule)
Qualifications (Education, Training and Experience):
- Pursuance of an Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Child Development or Human Services related field preferred. Previous experience working with children and the ability to be trained to meet the expectations of our structured programs will be equally considered. (Position may meet university requirements for internship credit, please refer to your university's internship department)
- Candidate must possess, exhibit and maintain competency in dealing with children.
- Successful completion a physical and drug screen, pass a Criminal Record History Clearance and a Child Abuse History Clearance.
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.

Valid driver's license, SCM certification and CPR/First Aid certifications required.

Competitive Pay: $18.50-$22.00 per hour, based on education and relatable experience.
Training: Begins May 11th or May 26th
