The mission of Jubilee Housing is to build diverse, compassionate communities that create opportunities for everyone to thrive. Since 1973, Jubilee has worked to provide high quality affordable housing and holistic support to individuals and families in the Adams Morgan, Mount Pleasant and Columbia Heights neighborhoods of Washington D.C. Jubilee operates more than a dozen properties totaling over 500 homes and has an active development pipeline of new affordable housing, including D.C.’s first urban aquaponics and hydroponics farm located in the basement and rooftop of one of our buildings. Jubilee also offers robust programming for residents and community members as they pursue life goals.
Jubilee’s Justice Housing® model is built on the principle of providing deeply affordable homes with onsite or nearby services located in neighborhoods where resources such as good schools, grocery stores, and public transportation are readily accessible. Jubilee is seeking individuals who want to work with us to ensure Justice Housing becomes a reality for all who need it.
Position Description
In 2011, Jubilee Housing opened the Re-entry Housing Initiative (currently known as the Reentry Transitional Housing Program), which is a transitional housing program for justice-involved (returning citizens) DC residents.
Specific Duties
This position will work collaboratively as a member of the Reentry Transitional Housing Program team and will report to the Program/Recovery Services Coordinator.
- Document resident engagements on the appropriate form – Apricot System
- Ensure that the facility is safe and secure during awake and sleeping hours.
- Ensure the adherence of program rules on a consistent and fair basis.
- Respond to crises according to guidelines established.
- Maintain professional relationships (boundaries) with residents while maintaining confidentiality of all parties.
- Complete paperwork and log note requirements, and maintain quality, up-to-date records.
- Consult with the Director of Reentry, Program Coordinator, and other program team members to ensure quality assurance for resident care.
- Participate in all scheduled meetings, staff development, and training as required.
- Provide back-up assistance to program team members as needed.
- Other duties as assigned in accordance with the care and coordination of the program and residents.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals who are or have been justice-involved (citizens returning to DC from incarceration).
- Understanding and supportive of a trauma-informed system of care.
- Strong interpersonal and engagement.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Some computer skills required.
- Ability to support the organization’s mission and philosophy and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and organizational harmony. Value for and the ability to deliver good resident services. Self-directed and flexible with the ability to meet the needs of the program and the residents.
