Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant fluent in English and Spanish to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment, supporting medical staff, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in various medical settings, including outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine, and possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy. This position offers an opportunity to work with diverse patient populations across different specialties such as dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, and medical-surgical units.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients with a friendly and professional demeanor in both English and Spanish.
- Perform patient intake procedures, including recording vital signs and collecting medical histories.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as medication administration, specimen collection, X-ray procedures, and basic life support.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems accurately and efficiently.
- Support physicians with ICD coding, documentation, and other administrative tasks related to patient care.
- Monitor patient progress and update records accordingly while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist with inpatient and outpatient procedures across various departments including PICU, OR, Geriatrics, and Level I/II trauma centers when applicable.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, medication administration, and vital signs measurement.
- Experience working with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is highly desirable to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to work efficiently in inpatient or outpatient environments within hospital or clinic settings including Level I/II trauma centers or Geriatrics units.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation accuracy.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery.
