Wound, Ostomy Continence Nurse GeneralistJOB SUMMARY
A Bachelors-prepared, registered nurse responsible for becoming eligible to obtain certification as a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOC) Nurse. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing education and specialty patient care to customers, families, community, and staff in the areas WOC; presenting and/or coordinating WOC patient care and educational/competency activities; adhering to governing agencies’ guidelines and mandates; demonstrating proficiency in the classroom/clinical setting; participating on committees pertinent to job duties; and acting as a resource and liaison to the community, medical staff, nursing units and ancillary departments at HMC.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
- Bachelors in the Science of Nursing (BSN)
Minimum Work Experience
- 2 Year Clinical Experience Minimum
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Registered nurse (RN) in the state of Texas
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor within 6 months of hire to department
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services
- Develops continuing educational activities in a professional manner according to criteria required by governing agencies
- Completes educational records according to facility and governing agency requirements
- Demonstrates the ability to function as an effective team member within the department and throughout the facility
