Brant Safe Beds Program, Mental Health Worker (Days)
Position: Full-Time, (12 Month Contract - Until January 30th, 2027)
Base Location:Brantford
Start Date: ASAP
Hours of Work: 3-4 shifts (12 hour shifts) per week
Wage Rate: as per CBA
This position works out of our Brant Safe Bed Program location at 84 Brant Avenue in Brantford and provides support to persons experiencing acute mental health crisis, in a residential setting utilizing a Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery model. Reliable transportation is required. A full job description is available upon request. Work shifts are typically between the hours of 8:00am-8:00pm and 8:30am-8:30pm and involves regular rotation through weekend shifts (presently every 2nd weekend).
A post-secondary diploma in the Social Services field is required, with a demonstrated familiarity and understanding of Brant, Haldimand & Norfolk mental health & addiction services.
Additional Preferences & Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a close team environment;
- Solid understanding of community mental health Case Management and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation and Recovery principles;
- Related work experience (2+ years preferred) in a mental health service environment;
- Presently certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR;
- Knowledge of local community programs and services;
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational and computer skills; experience in Client Data Systems (EMHware), Microsoft Office;
- Familiarity with psychotropic medications, assessment instruments (ie. OCAN, GAIN-SS, OPOC) and psychiatric reports;
- A current police records check is required.
