Scope of the Role:
The Administrative/Nursing Assistant reports to the Director of Care and is responsible for assisting with all the day-to-day facility-wide and nursing administrative functions. Also responsible for developing, defining, implementing, and supporting information technology strategic solutions in the Home in conjunction with Information Technology Solutions Providers.
Responsibilities:
- Completes and maintains scheduling and payroll for all nursing personnel.Assists in the production and distribution of nursing department communications under the direction of the Director of Care.Ensures compliance with CARF Canada and long-term care standardsAssists with staffing variance reports and annual IT-related budgetingMaintains appropriate staffing levels and efficient use of resourcesSupports recruitment, orientation, and retentionApplies knowledge of relevant legislation and collective agreementsUses strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and team-building skillsHelps set organizational technology objectivesPromotes a positive, team-focused work environmentParticipates in management and leadership meetingsPrepares reports and documentation for the Executive Director and Director of CareOversees information systems operations and coordinates IT service contractsEducates staff on Ministry standards, quality improvement, and new policiesMonitors HR performance indicators and nursing absenteeismUnderstands and works to improve quality indicators, including publicly reported onesEnsures documentation systems meet quality and compliance standardsTracks IT performance indicators and supports continuous improvementOther duties as assigned and or as indicated in the Job Task Inventory.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or G.E.D. with courses in typing and mathematics. A nursing background is an asset.Working knowledge and high comfort level to use computer hardware and software programs.Sense of responsibility, integrity, and confidentiality.Excellent knowledge of Microsoft NT, Microsoft OfficeExperience with IT support and troubleshooting.Long Term Care background is an asset.Analytical, problem solving and strong decision-making skillsStrong organizational skillsEffective communication skills, both verbally and written.Possess cultural sensitivity and awareness.
Compliance & Health Requirements:A current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) completed within the past six months, or willingness to obtain one.TB test results dated within the last six months, or within 14 days of hire; alternatively, a chest X-ray completed within the last year, in accordance with Public Health guidelines.Proof of all required vaccinations must be provided. Staying "up to date" with recommended vaccines is strongly encouraged. Requirements are subject to change based on Employer directives.
