Overview
Montech Inc. is seeking multiple qualified part-time, on-call armed security guards in support of the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, Earth Resources Observation Science (EROS) Center. These guards perform continuous protective services as required 24 hours per day, 365 days per year to monitor the interior and exterior of the USGS, EROS facility.
Place of Performance / Hours of Operation
Security services will be provided in support of the USGS EROS Facility located at 47914 252nd Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57198. The EROS facility requires security coverage 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
General Responsibilities
The part-time, on-call Security Guard II must maintain a secure environment in which visitors and employees can conduct the business of the USGS with confidence.
- Attend roll call prior to assuming duty for briefing on any changes to post assignments or to share information.
- Ensure post is properly relieved before leaving or taking a break.
- The last guard shall leave at the end of duty hours only after properly securing the post.
- Enforce regulations and procedures designed to prevent breaches of security.
- Exercise judgment and use discretion in responding to incidents and emergencies.
- Determine if intervention is needed, ask for assistance if needed, keep situation under control/surveillance, or report incident or situation to the appropriate authority.
- Check all incoming vehicles for employee parking tags.
- Screen all visitors, and record and issue day parking passes.
- Screen all visitors, new employees, and service workers through this post at main lobby Guard Post.
- Monitor access alarms, digital camera system, and building automation alarms.
- Spot check employee property (purses, briefcases, computer bags, etc.), verifying property passes, validation and verification of employees IDs, and other tasks as required.
- As 'Rover', will conduct indoor/outdoor roving security patrols, consisting of routine patrols and inspections of Government property and facilities. This position is the primary first responder called to incidents and emergencies, and also conducts counter surveillance operations.
- Screen all delivery vehicles, screen and inspect all mail and packages entering the site, and operate the package screening x-ray scanner system in the receiving area of warehouse.
- Meet rigorous physical fitness standards.
- Maintain training certifications.
- Account for all firearms.
- Clean and oil firearms in accordance with weapons manufacturing specifications and as necessary to ensure optimum operating conditions.
- Handle firearms in a safe and prudent manner.
Qualifications
The Security Guard II must have a high school diploma, or equivalent (GED) with at least one (1) year of experience demonstrating the following: any security experience that may have equipped the employee in meeting the requirements and any applicable military service that may be credited toward meeting those requirements.
- Must successfully pass initial and subsequent annual physical examinations for vision, hearing, medical condition(s), etc.
- Must have English language proficiency: be able to speak fluent English, understand English, and be able to read, understand, and apply printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training material.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license per SD state, and federal, vehicle operations requirements.
Montech will ensure all personnel possess the necessary education, training, qualifications and experience to accomplish the requirements identified for role. Training in support of this position will include:
- Firearms Training and Qualifications (DHS/FPS)
- CPR/AED/First Aid Training
- Other Government-provided training (e.g., safety awareness, property/records management, security systems, etc.)
- Vehicle Operation
Security
Employment is contingent upon the ability to pass the pre-employment drug test and a federal security investigation (background check) in order to obtain a Department of the Interior Public Trust clearance (prior to start date). The background investigation reviews employment, criminal, financial, and personal history to ensure there are no outstanding violations. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen to work in support of a federal agency.
Any notification from Government to Montech Inc. notifying that the employee has compromised the security requirements will warrant immediate termination from employment on the contract.
