POSITION TITLE: Competition Intern

POSITION FUNCTION:
Are you passionate about organizing major sporting events and looking for hands-on experience in event operations? Join us at the Big 12 Conference, where we are dedicated to delivering outstanding Olympic Sport Championships and exceptional student-athlete experience. As an Intern, you will gain invaluable experience by supporting the planning and execution of these prestigious events. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work closely and be supervised by a Director of Competition. Interns will be expected to assist with various tasks related to the championships in an effort gain insight into the world of collegiate athletics. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented and proactive, with a keen interest in sports management. Please note that we are only accepting applications from students who are in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area.

• The intricacies of planning and executing large-scale sports championships
• Coordination and communication with host venues and other stakeholders
• Document preparation and management for high-profile events
• Effective methods for handling special projects and logistical challenges
• Insights into the organization and delivery of awards and signage for major events
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties:
• Serve as an operations assistant for Olympic Sport Championships
• Assist with all aspects of Olympic Sport Championship planning and on-site operations, including travel to select events
• Help prepare manuals, forms, timelines, credentials, and other essential documents
• Participate in championship planning meetings and conference calls with host venues
• Assist in ordering and delivering awards for the championships
• Support the coordination of both generic and event-specific signage
• Participate in coaches' meetings for Olympic Sports
• Contribute to special projects as needed
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• An interest in college sports and/or event management
• Excellent written, oral, and communication/presentation skills
• Detail-oriented, proactive and strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite preferred
EDUCATION:
• Prefer sophomore in college or above
• Prefer GPA of 3.2 or higher
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment and potential travel. Frequent sitting, standing, walking bending, listening, speaking, and use of office equipment. Some requirements for lifting, pushing, or pulling items less than 30 pounds. Ability to work long non-standard hours, including holidays, nights, weekends, games days or other event dates.
