Position Responsibilities
Summary:
Inspire and engage students in Grades 5-8 by bringing the joy and beauty of mathematics to life. Plan, organize, and implement an instructional program for Grades 5-7 Mathematics and Grade 8 Algebra I, fostering a supportive learning environment where students can achieve their academic and personal potential. Provide targeted support and intervention through one-on-one and small-group instruction, using evidence-based strategies to enhance student understanding and confidence in mathematics. Work closely with class teachers to ensure program continuity and effective instruction. Partner with parents to maintain open communication and provide student support. Monitor student progress, offer instructional resources, and provide feedback.
Essential Functions:
- Research and integrate grade-level-appropriate math curricula and methodologies aligned with Waldorf principles.
- Develop the yearly curricular scope and sequence in collaboration with class teachers.
- Create weekly lesson plans for skills and ongoing classes and deliver engaging, holistic lessons rooted in Waldorf pedagogy.
- Nurture and support the class community, fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
- Assess student progress regularly through formal and informal methods, providing feedback and necessary support.
- Provide rubrics for parent-teacher conferences, and submit quarterly, semester, and end-of-year reports.
- Collaborates with the Educational Support team to assist students in need of remediation, specialized instruction and assessments.
- Meet weekly with an advisor for support and guidance (for teachers in their first three years).
- Prepare substitute plans for scheduled lessons.
- Maintains positive relationships with parents, responding to concerns and scheduling conferences as needed.
- Participate in faculty, section, and committee meetings, one parent evening a year, and school-wide events, while fulfilling other duties as assigned related to job responsibilities.
- Write student recommendations as needed.

Position type and Expected hours
- The academic year is July 1 , 2025 - June 30, 2026
- The school work calendar includes two weeks before and one week after the close of the academic year, and additional times as the school deems necessary.
- Employee's work extends beyond the scheduled school days to include open houses, work days, festivals, and community events
- Employee will arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. and may leave after 3:15 on days when there are no meetings.
- Employee will teach a full time schedule:
- Teaching 3 periods/week in Grades 5, 6, 7 each
- Four periods a week in Grade 8
- Remedial group and 1-1 work with grades 5-8
- Meeting with an advisor one period/week
- Regular full time recess duties

Compensation and Benefits
This is a 40-hour per week position. The salary rate for this regular full-time, exempt position varies, depending on exact experience and qualifications. This is a 10-month school year position with an immediate opening. RWS offers the following benefits to full-time staff:
