POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides communications and administrative support to the Department Director and assists in implementing Tribal communication priorities. The role supports daily communications operations and contributes to key initiatives such as the Eyak Echo, NVE website redevelopment, organizational rebranding, and execution of the NVE Communications Plan. The position helps ensure consistent Tribal messaging, improves information accessibility for members, and enhances public awareness of Tribal programs and priorities.[BW4]
ESSENTIAL DUTIES [BW5]
1.Communications Coordination and Outreach
1.1. Support Tribal communications to ensure clear, timely, and accurate information sharing.
1.2. Assist in the preparation and distribution of newsletters, announcements, and public notices.
1.3. Help coordinate communication with Tribal members, Elders, and partner organizations.
1.4. Support outreach and information-sharing efforts across platforms and formats.
1.5. Work with program directors and department leads to collect and verify messaging content.
1.6. Coordinate submission flow from NVE's Communications Request Form.
1.7. Help organize and track messaging priorities across departments.
1.8. Track outreach metrics, media mentions, and content engagement.
2.Content Development and Media Management
2.1. Produce creative content or facilitate content production for Eyak Echo, NVE flyers, and program updates.
2.2. Assist with drafting, editing, formatting, and proofreading Tribal communications.
2.3. Support production of Eyak Echo, Council updates, strategic project briefs, and media materials.
2.4. Assist with implementation of the NVE Communications Plan and brand guidelines.
2.5. Maintain templates for public-facing materials.
2.6. Support rollout of NVE's rebrand and visual identity system across departments.
2.7. Assist with updates to the NVE website, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
2.8. Help manage NVE's communication channels.
2.9. Capture photos and video for storytelling, program highlights, and archival purposes.
2.10. Maintain and organize NVE's digital Media Asset Library.
3.Administrative and Departmental Support
3.1. Provide professional administrative support to the Director.
3.2. Coordinate calendars, meetings, agendas, and departmental task tracking.
3.3. Assist with logistics, scheduling, and coordination of communications projects and initiatives.
3.4. Support purchase order processing, budget tracking, and vendor communications.
3.5. Maintain organized department files, project records, and communications archives.
3.6. Assist with communication summaries and memorandums.
4.Applicable to All Staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE [BW7]
Required:
· High school diploma or GED.
· Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative, communications, or related experience.
Preferred:
· Associate's or bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, business administration, or a related field.
· Experience working in a Tribal government, public agency, or community-based organization.
· Familiarity with content management systems, design software, or media production tools.
