JOB SUMMARY:
A Buyer purchases merchandise using current market data, buying history, and best judgment. Responsible for the movement of product to and from the warehouse. Responsible for planning promotional inventory for any or all of the products purchased for divisions. The Buyer position has an opportunity for hybrid remote work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- A Buyer manages the inventory level of individual lines of product.
- Utilize the AWR buying system in forecasting and purchasing products.
- Maintenance of all product lines.
- Communication with Vendors and Category Managers regarding updating and discontinuing products.
- Buyers work with Inbound Logistics for inventory freight management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a college or technical school preferred.
- One year of previous procurement and or warehouse experience.
- Knowledge of service requirements, shelf life, key factors that affect the profitability of inventory, promotional, and retailer needs.
- Knowledge of freight costs and warehouse products is required.
- Previous buying experience using an automated buying system is preferred.
- Previous retail grocery experience is preferred.
