Position Summary
The Production Assistant Manager will serve as a key driver of efficiency, compliance, and team performance within our nutraceutical manufacturing operations. Working closely with the Production Manager, this role will provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and continuous improvement across production lines to ensure goals for safety, quality, cost, and throughput are achieved.
You'll act as the bridge between management strategy and daily execution by engaging supervisors, motivating production staff, and troubleshooting operational challenges with a proactive, agile and data-driven mindset. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment and is skilled at leading teams toward excellence through lean practices and hands-on coaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily manufacturing operations to meet production goals, quality targets, and delivery schedules.
- Supervise and support shift supervisors; provide direction, feedback, and professional development to drive performance and morale.
- Monitor production processes and adjust schedules, materials, and personnel allocations to optimize output and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA, and company quality standards throughout all production activities.
- Troubleshoot equipment, workflow, and personnel issues in collaboration with maintenance, quality, and R&D teams.
- Lead or assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
- Analyze production data and generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support cost-control initiatives and continuous improvement projects that enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and engagement among production staff.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, maintenance, and quality assurance departments to align operational priorities.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Management, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience:
- 3–5+ years of experience in production supervision or management within nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, food, or similar regulated manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated success improving production efficiency, implementing lean principles, or optimizing workflows.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of cGMP, FDA, HACCP, and general manufacturing safety and sanitation requirements.
- Familiarity with production planning, scheduling, and ERP/MRP systems.
Skill:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Competent in using data and metrics to drive performance decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or production management software.
Preferred:
- Experience in encapsulation, blending, or packaging operations.
- Familiarity with HRIS, HCM or production-tracking systems (e.g., Rippling, Paylocity, Monday.com, Data Ninja).
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting Salary Rate of 58,000.00 with adjustments DOE.
