POSITION SUMMARY
Provides support to Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee by setting patient appointments, front desk patient registration, patient check out, maintaining records, collecting patient payments and providing customer service. 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Workplace Experience:
At least one year medical office experience and ability to communicate well
Equipment and Skills Training:
Competent in the use of computers, printers, facsimile machines, copy machines, business phones, document scanners and other office equipment and supplies.
Physical Environment:
Office environment.
Physical Effort:
Must be able to sit, stand, communicate in English, both verbally and in written form, squat, reach overhead, and operate a computer/keyboard and heard instruction as appropriate.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
	- Schedule appointments appropriately and follows scheduling instructions in EMR in order to maintain current patient information and updates demographics when needed.
 
	- Provide patients with necessary paperwork and HIPAA information to maintain compliance and inform patient’s when policy changes have occurred.
 
	- Consistently verifies insurance upon check-in for eligibility and scans in all necessary insurance cards provided by patient; scans in patient identification accurately.
 
	- Oversees check-in/check-out process and able to answer patient/coworker questions regarding scheduling, co-pays, and insurance as needed.
 
	- Responsible for collecting patient payments and confirms the accuracy of their individual collections balance at the end of each business day prior to depositing in safe.
 
	- Assists in new hire onboarding and training when requested by the manager/director; assists co-workers during down time. 
 
	- Provides simple medical advice under the direction of the physical or clinical staff.
 
	- Maintains adequate front office supplies and notifies Materials Management when supplies are running low.
 
	- Maintains open line of communication with all staff members; interacts with staff/patients in a professional and constructive manner regarding directions, scheduling, messages, workflow changes and necessary corrections.
 
	- Maintains work areas and personal appearance in a way that reflects professionalism, orderliness, cleanliness and safety.
 
	- Reports concerns requiring attention to manager or director.  Employee is a problems solver that brings possible solutions when presenting concerns or problems.
 
	- Participates in departmental meetings/huddles/etc. and recommends improvement opportunities.  Performs other duties as assigned by manager and independently seeks out job duties during down time.
