Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The part-time Janitor will be responsible for keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish at the Administration Building and at the Drop-in Center. Notifies the property manager of the need for repairs and maintenance, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalks. Also, receive materials delivered to warehouse and prepare all supply requests from Bell properties.
CRITICAL ELEMENTS:
1) Trash
- Collect all trash and recyclables throughout the site and take it to the designated staging areas. Place collected items at curbside on scheduled pick up days.
- Empty all ash cans and pick up trash and other debris from around the entire exterior of the building, including emptying of the bus stop trash container as necessary.
2) Cleaning
- Clean bathrooms and kitchen areas of the site twice a week, or as scheduled on the most recently issued “Cleaning Checklist”
- Remove snow and apply ice melt on the sidewalks of the building anytime there is snowfall and once the snow has stopped falling. (includes Saturdays and Sundays)
- Clean windows, wax vinyl and wood flooring; clean and was wood furnishings, and polish metal surfaces as necessary.
3) Dusting/Vacuuming/Mopping
- Dust all cabinets, counter tops, shelving, window sills, etc.; vacuum carpets and furnishings, and wet mop vinyl or wood flooring on a regular basis or as required.
4) Inventories/Supplies
- Maintain inventories of materials, equipment and supplies needed to perform duties. Comply with the proper storage requirements of cleaning materials and supplies. Complete supply requisition forms and submit to Administration when necessary to restock.
5) Health/Safety/Property Issues
- Promptly report to supervision, in writing, any concerns regarding health, safety or property maintenance issues that may be noticed, observed, or discovered at assigned sites during the performance of duties.
6) Coordination
- Coordinate the assistance of maintenance, custodial, or other staff members when work requires more than one person; especially when moving unwieldy items or when it is necessary to lift or move anything weighing over fifty pounds.
ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS:
1) Provide backup for custodial and other janitorial positions as needed.
2) Apply all necessary health and safety precautions during the performance of duties including but not limited to, washing, gloving and clean-up procedures as well as safety clothing, eye and ear protection and safe lifting and moving practices.
3) Show consideration and respect for all consumers and staff throughout the agency at all times.
4) Follow and support Agency philosophy, policies, and procedures.
5) Other duties as assigned by the Property Manager.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: 18 years old; high school diploma or equivalent. Some training or experience in cleaning procedures and knowledge of cleaning supplies. Able to lift 50 lbs. and complete required paperwork/documentation. PA State Police background check.
Compensation details: 13-13 Hourly Wage
