Position Overview
The Assistant Maintenance Manager supports the
Maintenance Manager in overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and repair
of all resort buildings, facilities, and equipment. This role ensures that all
property systems function efficiently and safely, helping deliver a positive
experience for guests and staff.
As a key member of the Manning Park Resort Leadership
Team, the Assistant Maintenance Manager participates in planning for future
development, leads by example, and mentors team members to maintain high
standards of performance, safety, and service quality.
Key Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
Operational and Technical Duties:
- Supervise
and assist in the maintenance and repair of all resort facilities,
buildings, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure smooth day-to-day
operations.
- Support
the Maintenance Manager in assigning and monitoring daily, weekly, and
monthly work tasks for the Maintenance Team.
- Perform
regular property inspections to identify issues and ensure compliance with
safety, building, and fire codes.
- Maintain
and organize inventories of tools, materials, and supplies required for
maintenance operations.
- Assist
with coordinating and supervising external contractors to ensure all work
is completed on time, within budget, and to resort standards.
- Develop,
review, and improve preventive maintenance programs for buildings,
machinery, and utilities.
- Monitor
resort utilities (water, heating, power, etc.) and identify opportunities
for operational efficiency and cost savings.
- Respond
promptly to maintenance emergencies and support the team in resolving
issues effectively.
Leadership and Administrative Duties:
- Supervise,
train, and mentor maintenance team members to promote skill development
and strong teamwork.
- Participate
in long-term maintenance planning and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Support
the Maintenance Manager in preparing budgets, tracking expenditures, and
maintaining accurate maintenance records.
- Promote
and enforce Manning Park Resort’s health and safety programs to ensure a
safe work environment for all staff.
- Communicate
clearly with other departments to support smooth resort operations.
Physical Requirements:
This is an active, hands-on role that requires regular walking, lifting,
operating machinery, and working both indoors and outdoors in various weather
conditions. The successful candidate must be comfortable performing physical
work five days per week.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Broad
knowledge or certification in several of the following areas: electrical,
plumbing, gas fitting, boilers, mechanical systems, pool and water
treatment, and construction.
- Minimum
2 years of experience in a supervisory or management position.
- Strong
communication skills—verbal, written, and listening.
- Positive,
professional attitude with proven ability to lead a team.
- Competent
in using computers and basic maintenance tracking systems.
- Strong
problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Valid
B.C. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience
operating small and large maintenance equipment.
Assets:
- Red
Seal certification in a trade (plumbing preferred).
- Knowledge
of IT systems, building automation, or energy management systems.
- Previous
experience in a hospitality, resort, or remote property setting.
- Passion
for outdoor activities and appreciation for the mountain lifestyle.
