Basic Function
The Senior Application Engineer develops wastewater system proposals to meet prospective customer needs and secure new business. Collaborates and coordinates with internal contributors and subject matter experts to ensure content is complete, accurate, cost-effective and maximizes business opportunities. Prepares and maintains a repository of templates, standard language, and product collateral or exhibits, and may prepare custom response content for complex or unique inquiries. The Application Engineer also supports preliminary process designs, CAPEX and OPEX inputs, block flow diagrams, and cost database management.
Typical Duties
- Determines O&M and capital for use in the Water Energy Purchase Agreements (WEPA) model
- Accurately identifies CAPEX and OPEX cost for projects
- Inputs variables for WEPA modeling to include but not limited to CAPEX costs, OPEX cost, taxes, insurance, etc. to identify target project returns
- Performs sensitivity analysis on proposed cases
- Identifies project development incentives
- Works closely with the sales team to determine best structure and approach for projects
- Develops preliminary process designs and creates block flow diagrams
- Supports FEL 0 review presentation creation
- Coordinates the collection and organization of exhibits and appendices for WEPA projects
- Develops standard process designs
- Manages and prioritizes deal activities for the internal Cambrian team (project management, engineering, field operations) to prevent delays in deal flow
- Manages master product cost database
- Analyze site data for existing customer locations to improve overall system performance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business with relevant technical experience
- 10-15 years of experience in application or process engineering, with experience in the water/wastewater industries
- Deep knowledge of aerobic and anaerobic treatment systems, including membrane-based technologies
- Strong experience in supporting commercial deal structures
- Familiarity with basic fabrication methods and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and related design or engineering software applications
- Demonstrated success in multitasking, meeting deadlines, and adapting to evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to thrive in a small-company setting with cross-functional responsibilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, with strong time management skills and keen attention to detail
- Solutions-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Hands-on experience with complex industrial wastewater treatment
- Field experience with plant start-ups, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Background in supporting commercial sales and applications engineering
- Experience with process value engineering to optimize performance and cost

Compensation details: 110000-125000 Yearly Salary
