About Scoutbee
At Scoutbee, we've built the world's most sophisticated AI-powered supplier intelligence platform through rigorous innovation and engineering excellence. Now, as we join forces with Coupa, we're maintaining our distinctive team culture while scaling our technical impact globally. By integrating our cutting-edge AI search algorithms and rich supplier data with Coupa's $8T+ dataset, we're solving complex discovery problems at an unprecedented scale. As a high-velocity team within Coupa, we maintain our technical autonomy and rapid development cycles, all while gaining the resources to push the boundaries of what's possible. If you're passionate about applied AI, machine learning, and building systems that transform how businesses connect worldwide, there's never been a more exciting time to join us.
We're hiring a Data Scientist (US) to drive activity and engagement across our buyer-supplier marketplace. In this role, you'll ensure buyers are actively using the platform to find suppliers and publish sourcing events, while keeping suppliers engaged and aligned with demand. The result: real value for suppliers, better outcomes for buyers, and a marketplace that grows sustainably over the long term.
This is a highly strategic and cross-functional role. You'll work across product, growth, supplier experience, and customer success - connecting the dots to unlock marketplace potential. You'll engage with senior leaders, shape segment-specific strategies, and lead programs from concept to execution.
Your role in our beehive:
- Data Mastery: Develop deep expertise in procurement and supplier datasets - including schemas, enrichment pipelines, quality nuances, and workflow linkages.
- Applied Research: Partner with product and engineering teams to design and prototype AI-powered supplier features (e.g., advanced search, risk scoring, trust signals, dynamic profile enrichment).
- Exploratory Analysis: Uncover supplier patterns in pricing, risk, payment flows, and supply chain resilience to inform product and innovation opportunities.
- Prototyping: Rapidly build models, dashboards, and workflows that validate hypotheses and accelerate feature adoption.
- Research Agenda: Shape thought leadership by identifying opportunities for selective external research on supplier markets, global procurement trends, and supply chain dynamics.
- Standards: Establish best practices in reproducible research, feature engineering, and responsible AI development.
What you bring to our beehive:
- 4–7 years of experience in data science, applied research, or advanced analytics (procurement, supply chain, fintech, or marketplace experience is a plus).
- Strong technical skills in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, PySpark) or R, with SQL fluency and experience querying large-scale datasets.
- Familiarity with modern ML workflows, from feature engineering through evaluation.
- Experience working with transactional, supplier, or financial data.
- Product-oriented mindset: able to translate raw data into actionable product insights.
- Entrepreneurial and curious: thrives in ambiguity, balances rigor with speed, and eager to explore uncharted data.
- Passionate about AI: Deeply engaged in the fast-moving AI ecosystem, staying current with the latest techniques and frameworks, and often experimenting with side projects, open-source contributions, or independent research.
What's in it for you?
- Opportunity to help shape the world's biggest procurement network
- Work cross-functionally with top talent across GTM, product, and platform teams
- Competitive compensation and wellness budgets
- Remote-flexible, mission-driven culture committed to better global procurement
