We're looking for an Engineering Manager to build and lead our engineering teams during an exciting period of growth. You'll take our core team of three engineers and grow it into two high-performing teams of five - scaling capability while keeping our culture strong. In this role, you'll guide the team through change, helping us integrate with our parent company while balancing startup energy with new enterprise resources. Your leadership will keep experimentation alive, fuel fast innovation, and drive the impactful products that will carry our momentum into this next chapter.
Your role in our beehive:
- Scale our engineering team from three to ten engineers, organizing them into two effective cross-functional teams
- Foster our culture of experimentation and innovation while implementing appropriate structure and stability
- Lead the migration from Vercel to Kubernetes on AWS without compromising development velocity
- Partner with the Technical Architect and Product Leader to balance technical excellence with rapid delivery
- Identify skill gaps and create development pathways that help team members reach their potential
- Protect the team from administrative overhead while ensuring compliance with new standards
- Drive recruitment efforts to bring in talent that enhances both our capabilities and culture
- Collaborate with parent company leadership to adopt helpful standards while preserving our agility
What you bring to our beehive:
- Experience building and scaling engineering teams, particularly during periods of organizational change
- Experience in a Post-Merger Integration environment background as a software engineer with understanding of TypeScript ecosystems
- Experience leading Ruby engineering teamsTalent for identifying, recruiting, and developing engineering talent
- Ability to maintain team momentum and morale during infrastructure transitions
- Pragmatic approach to Agile methodologies, focusing on outcomes rather than process
- Skill in establishing the right amount of structure to support growth without bureaucracy
- Strong communication skills for clear collaboration with both teams and leadership
- Enthusiasm for balancing innovative prototyping with increasing quality standards
What success looks like:
- Within 3 months: You've established strong relationships with the existing team, developed a hiring strategy, and have begun implementation of new quality practices
- Within 6 months: You've grown the team to 6-8 engineers organized into two functional teams, and successfully initiated the infrastructure transition
- Within 12 months: You've built two complete teams of 5 engineers each, maintained or improved feature delivery velocity, and successfully integrated required parent company standards
- The engineering team demonstrates high engagement and satisfaction despite significant growth and change
- New engineers integrate smoothly and quickly become productive contributors
- Teams maintain the ability to experiment and prototype rapidly while improving overall code quality
- Engineers feel supported in their professional development and see clear growth opportunities
- Our product continues to evolve quickly while meeting the quality standards of our parent company
