About the role
Active Start Childcare is a trusted and established leader in early learning, proudly serving families in Calgary and Airdrieand now expanding with a brand-new centre in Edmonton! We are presently seeking a Lead Cook for our program. Ideal candidates will have previous experience as a cook, preferably in daycare settings, retirement homes, catering, or similar work environments.
What you'll do
- Preparing meals for approximately 500 children for breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to pre-set menus and recipes
- Ensuring the cleanup of dishes and ensuring the kitchen's cleanliness and sanitation
- Adhering to all Alberta health, fire and food safety regulations as well as Active Start's Food Safety Plan
- Ordering food weekly using our food order guide and managing deliveries
Qualifications
- Level 1Child Care Certification (or willing to obtain)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Professional, adaptable, and fluent in English
- Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations (preferred)
- Current Criminal Record Check ((with vulnerable sections search) and First Aid Certification and food safe certification - completed within the past 5 years (or willingness to obtain)
