JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse plans and provides comprehensive nursing care in accordance with professional nursing standards, uses judgment in assessing patient conditions, interprets guidelines, and modifies patient care as necessary, recognizes and determines proper action for medical emergencies, e.g., calls physician or takes preplanned emergency measures. Provides a range of nursing services, including preventive health care counseling, coordinates health care needs and makes referrals to medical specialists, assesses and treats minor health problems, administers emergency treatment; performs limited portions of physical examinations, manages the stable phases of common chronic illnesses and provides individual and family counseling. Assists the Wellness Department with the professional delivery of health services, support, and education that will enhance student employability and help students maintain a healthy lifestyle.
DUTIES:
•Performs duties under the supervision of the Health and Wellness Manager and in the absence of the Health and Wellness Manager, serves in that capacity.
•Responsible for ensuring doctor’s orders are followed in the Wellness Center and the care of all patients as prescribed and ensures accurate maintenance of charts on all patients to include terminated students.
•Orders all drugs and medical supplies as directed, stores appropriately, and maintains a record of all admissions and dismissals.
•Assists with cursory examinations, sick call and wellness care and ensures that all students return for special treatment or medication as ordered by a physician.
•Assists with disease prevention and disability accommodations for students.
•Ensures that required property (equipment) controls are adhered to and helps ensures that the Wellness facility is in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition at all times.
•Maintains current knowledge and certification in CPR and First Aid.
•Models appropriate employability skills for dress, language and work habits.
•Continuously help students become more employable.
•Participation in staff training and performs other duties as assigned within the individual’s scope
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Registered Nurse. Job Corps experience preferred. Active, unrestricted state license. Current CPR/First Aid certification. Valid state driver license. Current BLS/CPR certification. Three to five years management experience. Must demonstrate the ability to handle several projects simultaneously. Demonstrate time management, task allocation and priority assignment organization. Must present information both clearly and concisely.
