The Shift Manager is responsible for providing quality guest service by maintaining a clean and organized store image, as well as assisting with merchandising, pricing, and loss prevention. The Shift Manager operates the cash register/Point of Sale (EPOS) and ensures adherence with all Company/Store policies, including brand and image standards. In the absence of the Assistant Manager the Shift Manager is required to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Manager.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a welcoming and friendly environment which includes greeting and thanking every guest.
- Ensure that all True North Ready Standards are met while on duty.
- Maintain an awareness of monthly promotions, sale merchandise and advertisements, and assist in the completion of the monthly blitz execution as needed.
- Reset floor displays according to latest plan-o-grams.
- Follow all True North procedures for coffee, fountain and food service programs.
- Receive deliveries from vendors and verify accuracy of inventory along with authorization in price book.
- Utilize Control Report to create vendor orders and prevent product out-of-stocks.
- Lead by example by always adhering to company policies and procedures. Address staff compliance issues as needed, either directly or by bringing issues to the manager.
- Assist in training and development of both new and existing staff members.
- Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions, including lottery sales.
- Properly address any guest issues or complaints, and escalate to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Complete competitor price surveys and execute price changes.
- Monitor in-ground gasoline storage inventory and conduct physical stick readings on in-ground storage tanks.
- As directed by the Store Manager, run daily reports, reconcile shift sheets, complete e-store reporting, and prepare and transport bank deposit.
- Perform seasonal duties as needed, such as shoveling of snow on walkways and around pumps, as well as painting of exterior and interior surfaces.
- Any other duties assigned or delegated by management.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
- Process information and merchandise through EPOS, to include: retrieving reports, processing credit card transactions, and operating lottery machine
- Communicate clearly with other employees and guests
- React calmly in the event of an emergency situation
- Read, count, and write to accurately complete shift reports
- Operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store
- Take responsibility for transport of bank deposit
- Freely access all areas of the store including coolers, stock areas, and register area
- Stand for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours
- Work in cold conditions for long periods of time while stocking and cleaning the cooler
- Move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including first, second and occasionally third shift
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have a vehicle (in order to complete banking)
