DENTAL ASSISTANT POSITION SUMMARY
The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to the dental team in the delivery of care to patients in a correctional environment. This role involves preparing and assisting the dentist during dental procedures, managing dental instruments, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a clean and sterile environment. The Dental Assistant ensures the safe and effective delivery of dental services in compliance with facility protocols and security standards, while promoting patient well-being through quality care and professional interactions.
DENTAL ASSISTANT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepares operatory with appropriate instruments and material for the patients scheduled to be seen
- Assists dentist during treatment, providing instruments, material retraction or suction. Sterilizes instruments and disinfects operatory between patients.
- Schedules patients for dental appointments
- Performs laboratory procedures such as mixing impression material for dentures and assists in the clinical procedures of prosthetic dentistry.
- Develops and mounts routine radiographs. Assists in maintaining dental charts and records dental findings.
- Inventories and orders supplies to maintain proper levels.
DENTAL ASSISTANT REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS, EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year dental assistant experience required
- Must have current CPR certification
