Clinical Nurse Directors shape healthy work environments through nursing leadership skills and functions that include clinical, operational and financial effectiveness. The Clinical Director has direct impact on care and services that patient and families require throughout their health care experience. The Clinical Nurse Director achieves a professional culture that successfully recruits and retains nurses through the novice to expert continuum. The Clinical Nurse Director is essential for leading change in each clinical area. The Clinical Nurse Director plays a key role in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives for the organization. Promoting compliance with regulatory standards and legal processes is critical to the success of this position. The Clinical Directors must have a clear understanding of healthcare dynamics and trends. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer. Clinical Directors must be a positive representative of nursing within the organization and externally as a professional in the discipline of nursing.
