- This position is responsible for leadership and supervision of staff in departments of responsibility. Departments include Patient Care Unit, Nursery, Labor/Delivery/Postpartum, MDU/ICU, Swingbed, Emergency Department, Surgery, Specialty Clinic, Diabetes Education, Respiratory Therapy, Electrodiagnostics, Infusion and Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab. The positions oversee implementing and complying with the nursing and other standards of care; overseeing patient care in multiple units with patients of all ages newborns to elderly; scheduling of employees, hiring employees, employee evaluations, time and attendance management, budgeting, participating in the nursing leadership team, discipline, supervising nursing department clinical staff members, and participating in the hospital’s performance improvement program. The Clinical Nurse Manager provides support, direction, and resource for the clinical and nursing staff. The Clinical Nurse Manager utilizes clinical experts in specialty areas for resource, advice, and assigning special duties as needed. The Clinical Nurse Manager provides supplemental staffing of clinical areas if needed. The Clinical Nurse Manager makes rounds in each of their assigned departments to determine unmet needs, provide necessary tools and support, interact with patients and nursing staff, and offer employee mentoring and coaching. The position requires an experienced acute care registered nurse with innovative ideas, flexibility, effective leadership, excellent communication abilities and relationship building skills. The Clinical Nurse Manager must build close ties with the medical staff members and be available to problem solve and work through conflicts to help improve care delivery. The position embraces service excellence and Team STEPPS tools. Due to changing organizational needs, work hours may vary.
- Each Clinical Nurse Manager will provide backup assistance in the event of another Clinical Nurse Manager’s absence, by rounding in other departments when needed, and offering task assistance when necessary.

- 19 years of age or older unless otherwise noted in the position summary
- Required:
- Graduate from an approved Registered Nursing Program
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Experience/Qualifications

- Required:
- Nebraska RN license, or Nurse License Compact license
- BLS for healthcare workers
- Within one year of hiring to the position:
- ACLS
- PALS or ENPC
- TNCC for Manager supervising ED/ICU, Surgery
- Within two years of hiring to the position:
- NRP for Manager supervising OB, PCU, OR
- Valid Driver's License
Conditional:
- National Board Certification in main department of supervision orLeadership within 4 years of employment as Clinical Nurse Manager
