Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Chief of Police or his designee. Provides coordination for customer/guest-oriented management of the hospital environment for overall assurance of public safety. General responsibility for daily operations of the department, including managing personnel matters, equipment inventory, staffing, training, budgeting, planning and enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and applicable Federal, State, and local laws. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, visitors, employees, and subordinates of all age groups and sexes, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Provides supervision on a daily basis. Coordinates and conducts orientation and training sessions. Monitors subordinates effectively and directs their activities as needed to insure they provide quality customer service, including established service recovery activities, at all times to patients, families, visitors, and employees. Provides training and coaching to subordinates to develop their ability to perform their jobs and achieve expected results. Effectively schedules employees and directs their daily activities to ensure adequate coverage for Forrest Health security needs within the operating budget of the department.

- Consistently gathers and accurately interprets data from various sources about customer needs from internal customers and department staff and uses it to develop improved community policing strategies.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Two years' college training in law enforcement or a related field and completion of basic law enforcement academy or equivalent practical experience and training. Ability to communicate clearly, read, write/document thoroughly, and to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to successfully complete continuing in-service training. Considerable knowledge of supervision concepts. Thorough knowledge of law enforcement practices.
Work Experience:
Five years or more experience with law enforcement is desired. Extensive related work experience in a related field may substitute for law enforcement experience.
Certification/Licensure—DUE UPON HIRE
- Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Standards and Training Law Enforcement Certification.

Ability to coach, teach, motivate, and lead others. Ability to produce concise, accurate, well-written reports. Ability to solve problems on an independent basis. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must demonstrate understanding and belief that the possibility of physical confrontation increases the likelihood of injury. Must have the ability to manage handling of cadavers as part of routine processing with our morgue.
