SUMMARY
skilled and experienced Machinist I to operate and maintain various types of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. The Machinist I will use a variety of tools and equipment, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and computer-controlled machinery, to fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Practices ESL’s core values on a daily basis.
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Use precision measuring instruments to inspect and verify dimensions of machined parts and assemblies
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining operations to be performed
- Verify machine settings and program control data to ensure accuracy of machining operations
- Select appropriate cutting tools, grinding wheels, or fixtures for the job at hand
- Monitor machines during operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with machinery and equipment, and perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

- 1-3 years of experience operating and maintaining various types of machine tools
- Proficient in the use of lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and computer-controlled machinery

- Experience with precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations related to machining operations
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, earplugs, gloves)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
