Position located at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago, Indiana
Job Description:
Responds to faxed, mailed, walk-in and telephone requests and determines allowable release of protected health information according to HIPAA guidelines, state law and hospital policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a medical office setting or Health Information Management coursework. Previous Health Information Management in a hospital environment experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and troubleshooting computer problems. Experience with document scanners and electronic medical programs preferred.
- Medical terminology experience or coursework.
- Knowledge of office procedures/equipment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, federal and state laws covering disclosure of information.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Must have strong problem-solving, communication and organizational skills; Detail oriented.
